Middle Earth: The Beginning
Our journey to Middle Earth began in March of 1999 while living in Houston, Texas. Craig stepped out of the shower one morning with an inner knowing, and a sense of urgency that NOW was the time to begin our Work-as part of the Great Work of which Thomas Berry speaks. The seed had been planted and, in the next few months, began to germinate. The yearning to participate in the health and healing of the Earth began to grow within us and the journey took us to 42 wooded acres in Citronelle, Alabama. We resigned our positions in Houston and, in September of 1999, we moved into a home designed by artists Jim and Joanne Conlon. The house, built in 1979 incorporated a passive solar greenhouse and so began our own education regarding practices of sustainability.
